Close your eyes. Mount Futagami — the twin-peaked mountain — watches over Takaoka like a patient elder with two thoughts held simultaneously.
You stand before Imizu Jinja, where the land has been sacred since the age before writing.
Breathe in. Twin peaks teach twin truths: that you can hold two things at once.
Mythos
Futakami-no-Kami — the deity of the twin mountain, the embodiment of dual wisdom.
In life, we are often told to pick a side. Futakami-no-Kami laughs gently at this.
You can be both ambitious and restful.
You can be both a leader and a learner.
You can be both grieving and grateful.
Imizu teaches: the mountain does not apologize for having two peaks. Neither should you.
Sacred Resonance
Find the oldest tree in the grounds. Stand between its two largest branches.
Feel how the branches reach in opposite directions — yet both from the same trunk.
Your contradictions are not flaws. They are branches from the same root.
Tailwind Blessing
Bow. Clap twice — like two notes in harmony. Bow.
Leave. Walk toward the bay, wind at your back.
The Etchū wind meets you — Divine Tailwind, carrying both peaks at once.
Every breath holds two truths.
Walk on, twin-hearted one. You are allowed to be both.

Imizu Jinja is the Ichinomiya — the first-ranked shrine of the historic province of Etchū, a designation that has endured for over a millennium.
II
A three-minute journey, not a tour
This page is designed as a quiet pilgrimage. Read slowly. Breathe. Let the place find you before you arrive.

Offline pocket guide
Save this page. Read it on the train, at the torii, or on the path home. No login. No ads. No noise.
Etiquette
Bow once before passing under the torii
The torii marks the threshold between the everyday world and the sacred. A small bow acknowledges the crossing.
Purify at the temizuya (water pavilion)
Left hand, then right, then rinse your mouth from the left, then cleanse the handle. One ladle of water carries you through all four motions.
At the main hall: two bows, two claps, one bow
Deep bow twice, clap twice with intention, offer your silent greeting, then one final deep bow. No coin is required.
Leave quietly. Let the shrine follow you out
A pilgrimage does not end at the gate. The stillness travels with you.
