Close your eyes. The Bingo hills mirror those of Bitchū, but the air here feels slightly more remote, more interior.
You stand before Kibitsu Jinja in Bingo — the brother shrine to Bitchū's, sharing a deity but not a fame.
Breathe in. This shrine reminds you that being less famous is not being less true.
Mythos
Ōkibitsuhiko-no-Mikoto — once again — but here, in his quieter aspect.
Two shrines for one deity, separated by a province line. The same god, two homes.
You, too, can have multiple homes. Multiple aspects of yourself can be enshrined in different places.
Bingo whispers: do not collapse yourself into one location, one identity, one story. The god is in many places at once. So can you be.
Sacred Resonance
Find the quiet courtyard of the shrine. Stand at its center.
Imagine the Bitchū Kibitsu shrine across the hills, holding the same name and the same prayer.
You are connected to a counterpart who shares your name. Honor them.
Tailwind Blessing
Bow. Clap twice — soft, kin-recognizing. Bow.
Leave. Step out onto the Bingo road, wind at your back.
The wind meets you — Divine Tailwind, brother-bound, kin-quiet.
Every breath joins two homes.
Walk on, plural one. The other you is fine. The road continues.
Reasons to Visit
I
Highest-ranked shrine of Bingo
Kibitsu Jinja (Bingo) is the Ichinomiya — the first-ranked shrine of the historic province of Bingo, a designation that has endured for over a millennium.
II
A three-minute journey, not a tour
This page is designed as a quiet pilgrimage. Read slowly. Breathe. Let the place find you before you arrive.

Offline pocket guide
Save this page. Read it on the train, at the torii, or on the path home. No login. No ads. No noise.
Etiquette
Bow once before passing under the torii
The torii marks the threshold between the everyday world and the sacred. A small bow acknowledges the crossing.
Purify at the temizuya (water pavilion)
Left hand, then right, then rinse your mouth from the left, then cleanse the handle. One ladle of water carries you through all four motions.
At the main hall: two bows, two claps, one bow
Deep bow twice, clap twice with intention, offer your silent greeting, then one final deep bow. No coin is required.
Leave quietly. Let the shrine follow you out
A pilgrimage does not end at the gate. The stillness travels with you.
