Close your eyes. The Chikugo plain stretches below you, and Mount Kōra rises like a quiet vigil above the rivers.
You stand before Kōra Taisha — perched on the slope, looking down at all of Chikugo with patient majesty.
Breathe in. The air at this height is thinner, more honest.
Mythos
Kōra Tamatare-no-Mikoto — a deity whose name means "the precious robe drapes" — accompanied by Hachiman and the Sumiyoshi spirits.
This god is said to have arrived robed in starlight, and chose this mountain because it was high enough to keep the robe untouched.
Some sacred things must be elevated to remain sacred. Some practices, some commitments, must be moved upward in your daily structure to survive.
What in your life needs to be moved up the mountain?
Kōra whispers: protect what is precious
Sacred Resonance
Walk to the edge of the shrine grounds where the view opens to the plain.
Look down. Notice how clearly you see your village from here.
Distance and altitude are not abandonment. They are perspective. They are protection.
Tailwind Blessing
Bow. Clap twice — clean as a robe folded high. Bow.
Descend. Step out onto the Chikugo road below, wind at your back.
The mountain wind meets you — Divine Tailwind, robed, elevated.
Every breath is a precious thing kept high.
Walk on, robed one. The mountain dressed you in starlight.

Etiquette
Bow once before passing under the torii
The torii marks the threshold between the everyday world and the sacred. A small bow acknowledges the crossing.
Purify at the temizuya (water pavilion)
Left hand, then right, then rinse your mouth from the left, then cleanse the handle. One ladle of water carries you through all four motions.
At the main hall: two bows, two claps, one bow
Deep bow twice, clap twice with intention, offer your silent greeting, then one final deep bow. No coin is required.
Leave quietly. Let the shrine follow you out
A pilgrimage does not end at the gate. The stillness travels with you.
